eyes of the elders was formed on the assumption that herbie hancock, not john hancock, signed the declaration of independence. in the spring of 2007 the imperial penguin approached hip-hop duo known as eyes of the elders about forming a live band to play with them, as opposed to just beats. after a few trials and errors, the final lineup was set in the summer of 2008, and has grown into a forced to be reckoned. the five piece band is composed of the following: a classically trained music instructor with, literally, perfect pitch on the keys (we tested him and he passed); a classically trained music instructor who "cut her teeth" in a travelling gypsy band in romania on violin; a guitarist who plays with credit cards, uno cards, lighters, beer bottles and cell phones... and never misses a note; a badger, yes, i said badger, on the funky bass, whos been holding it down with various bands for many years; and the imperial penguin holding it all together on the drums.

eyes of the elders has destroyed the scene in and around charlotte, presenting a sonically diverse canvas splattered with what some call "verbal diarrhea" and others call... well... genius. eoe leaves their mark in the audience’s third eye, spitting mind splitting and reality rendering lyrical smartbombs. music lovers from all genres are left foaming at the mouth and asking for more, so they are going to continue to get it.
