Hello Everyone!

We have decided to postpone the show to allow for us to regroup and get as many of the bands that were supposed to be involved together so that we can give you guys a killer show. Our date is looking to be 4 to 6 weeks out, but we will be announcing an exact date as soon as we can. On such short notice, most of our bands already had things booked for the original makeup date and everything would end up being rushed. Those of you who have purchased 2 day tickets online, we will be refunding half of your ticket price this afternoon since Sunday was rained out, and we will be giving you free tickets to the Nuthing Fall Collaborative on top of that.

eyes of the elders was formed on the assumption that herbie hancock, not john hancock, signed the declaration of independence. in the spring of 2007 the imperial penguin approached hip-hop duo known as eyes of the elders about forming a live band to play with them, as opposed to just beats. after a few trials and errors, the final lineup was set in the summer of 2008, and has grown into a forced to be reckoned. the five piece band is composed of the following: a classically trained music instructor with, literally, perfect pitch on the keys (we tested him and he passed); a classically trained music instructor who "cut her teeth" in a travelling gypsy band in romania on violin; a guitarist who plays with credit cards, uno cards, lighters, beer bottles and cell phones... and never misses a note; a badger, yes, i said badger, on the funky bass, whos been holding it down with various bands for many years; and the imperial penguin holding it all together on the drums.

eyes of the elders has destroyed the scene in and around charlotte, presenting a sonically diverse canvas splattered with what some call "verbal diarrhea" and others call... well... genius. eoe leaves their mark in the audience’s third eye, spitting mind splitting and reality rendering lyrical smartbombs. music lovers from all genres are left foaming at the mouth and asking for more, so they are going to continue to get it.

Bury Me A Lion aims high and hits hard. The band’s modern rock sound melds together The Strokes and The Beatles, and is layered against thick and airy Doors-influenced vocals. Their lively shows feature an aggressive yet playful sound delivered with force and excitement.

Bury Me A Lion is a four piece New York based band, with four very different backgrounds and influences. Singer Jarett Gilbert commands the stage as he balances a nonchalant attitude with erratic urgency. His natural warmth is tweaked by a sense of warning and foreboding. Sam Einhorn, on guitar, propels the show with fast hitting rhythms that infuse each song with its own unique force. Luca Pironti was born to play drums, and his prodigious playing sits at the forefront of the band’s sound. Evan Hammer’s melodic bass playing complements Sam’s intricate guitar style and often descends into a thick grooving drive.

Bury Me A Lion has received a consistently enthusiastic reaction at shows and through recordings, from fans who are celebrating a new rock sound that offers seminal experiences from every part of the stage.

John Hairston Jr. has been an artist for as long as he can remember. A Charlotte, NC native, he created art before he could read, write or spell. Through out his grade school years, he spent the majority of his time drawing superheroes and listening to any old soul or Hip Hop records he could get his hands on. Little did he know that his love for all things spandex-clad and funky would come play such a major role in his development as an artist.

Under the guidance of his high school mentors and college professors, he learned to tap into these components to create a style of artwork that seamlessly blends political satire, social commentary and obscure pop-culture references. Hairston graduated from the University of North Carolina Charlotte with a bachelor’s degree of fine arts in illustration and began his career as a professional artist illustrating storyboards for a string of independent films and several of television ads. He has done commissioned pieces for numerous art collectors and various non-profit organizations. John Hairston Jr. currently has work on display in galleries all over the east coast.

Ana Jofre is a self-taught artist who has been handbuilding ceramic sculptures and making artful crockery since 1995, and over the past few years, her work has spanned several sculpting media. Ana is compelled by form, ranging from abstract geometry to the human form, seeking to explore elements of aesthetic truths. She also produces conceptually driven works inspired by a range of interests and influences. Born to refugees in Lima in 1976, Ana grew up in Canada, and lived in Calgary, Winnipeg and Toronto before her nomadic restlessness led her South through Washington DC and into North Carolina, where she currently teaches physics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and does research in Biophysics, where she verifies small elements of empirical truths.

What is black and white and RED ALL OVER? The better question is what band gives you the best original show creating an atmosphere of energetic and sexy fun all night long. The answer will always be RED ALL OVER!!

RED ALL OVER is a dance party with rock music. The party doesn’t stop until they say so! Have you ever heard a band play one song after the other with breaks in between so they can tell you how much fun you’re having? RED ALL OVER is not that band. The beats keep coming with sultry lyrics and an identifiable sound that will keep you dancing all night long! They give you “all killer and no filler”. RED ALL OVER combines the atmosphere of Radiohead, the vocal presence of Garbage, with the guitar textures of U2 to give you the perfect formula for a show you will have to SEE to believe.

RED ALL OVER is by no means new to the music scene. A few years ago they went on an 80 show tour that spread their music from New York to New Orleans. The band decided to separate afterwards to pursue individual goals.

Recently, a project started by the band’s bassist and programmer Jarrett Bury sparked a reunion. He was working on a song for a tribute album when he noticed that the sound was reminiscent of RED ALL OVER. He didn’t hesitate to contact his former lead singer Eliza Grey to help with the lyrics and vocals. They knew this team would not be complete with out the guitar skills of Josh Featherstone.

This project reminded them of the chemistry they have and how easy it is for them to write music together. They all seemed to be on the same page. Thus, RED ALL OVER was ready for their second time around.

RED ALL OVER considers “the beat” the cornerstone of their music. It is where their creativity begins. Jarrett will take a trip-hop or hip-hop beat and add rock bass. Next comes the guitar influence from Josh. Last, but not least, are the lyrics from Eliza that come from past relationships and life experience.

RED ALL OVER gives you the “truth” in their music. Jarrett says, “It’s like when your girlfriend asks you if you like what she is wearing, and you say you do when you don’t. You’ve done more harm than good”. Eliza agrees, “ Our music has substance. The song is actually about something”.

RED ALL OVER is currently writing new music and developing new and exciting ideas for their live show.

Lost in France, alone and tired, almost a decade ago. A black binded book within which the innermost thoughts came out, when they were allowed to come out... most pages left blank. A single page towards the end was torn open and scrawled with the words of a soul drifting at sea, "what do you do when you feel the music inside of you, but you don't know how to let it out?"

The book is long gone, but the spirit of that statement penned in desire lives on. It is the seed from which all of my music has since grown from, and has provided the foundation for the songs you hear on this page. These songs are about life, and love, and at times about the pain surrounding each of these things. They derive from a folk music spirit, but take wings on rock and pop, and whatever other names you want to put on the sounds. They put a smile on my face and a spring in my step, and I hope they do the same for you. Thanks for listening, and I hope you'll keep in touch. I'd love to perform these songs for you in person someday soon...

To educate, enlighten, assist, and entertain the people though artistic expression

God City was never something that was planned. It just kind of came together. The right people meeting at the right time. All like something out of a movie. Four like-minded guys who wanted to see more of the things they liked in their city of Charlotte. They came together with similar interest in art, comics, music, culture, and most importantly an undying desire to make a change. Since its humble beginning in 2005, the members of god city have realized through the hip hop culture that unity, self sufficiency, and creativity they can achieve their artistic dreams and give back to those who came before them and are soon to follow. Heavily influenced by hip hop culture, comics, and history the members of this group set out to make original, engaging artwork that challenges the viewer. Now the ever growing number of members of God City are practicing and/or teaching artist who reside in Charlotte NC.

:: ARTIST STATEMENT ::

For as long as I can remember, the visual arts have fascinated me. I was in awe early in life at the idea that a person could render the world around them accurately, or create something in complete contradiction with the natural order of things and still have it be considered a beautiful and real thing.

Having spent my youth in what was once rural North Carolina, just outside Charlotte, I developed a great attachment and attraction to the simplicity of the natural world. Though I can’t say that I always render the world in a natural way, I can say that for me the relationship that we as people have with nature, with each other, and with ourselves, is the driving force in my life. Because of this I have tried throughout my years to illustrate and capture this world the way I see it, and present to an audience the beauty that I see in the everyday. The beauty in all that is simple, even in that which might have been throwaway to another. It was then that I began to realize that with the simplification of line, applied against richly textured, vibrant backgrounds, found objects and folk influences, I could hope to present this art in the raw yet formal grace that is the world around us. Through layering of painterly strokes, graphic familiarity and vivid colors, I aim to embrace the viewers, but deliberately leave them guessing about the story. Provoking questions about individuals as well as a time and era of living that is becoming somewhat non-existent.

Because of this I would have to make comparisons to and have certainly been influenced by the American scene painters from Norman Rockwell, Ed Hopper, Thomas Hart Benton, and the brilliant, vibrant worlds of Van Gogh. Currently, the works Julian Schnabel, the pop-surrealists, Ron English, and Joe Coleman have been of great influence, and, of course, the list could continue for pages.

As an artist driven by this relationship with each other and with the world around us, I have found a natural transition towards public art. I have recently finished a second, large-scale public mural in the NoDa Arts District of Charlotte, NC. Now living there, I am able to see the immediate interaction of my neighbors, and visitors alike. Some notice, some don’t; some see it and smile. And perhaps, some see it and frown. Regardless of what they think, they are taking the time to engage in art. Many of them would not in a normal day come across, and certainly not go into an art gallery, but now are discussing art. And to me, that is a really cool thing.
